A shipyard in Jiangsu Province is a comprehensive enterprise which is mainly engaged in shipbuilding, repairing, dismantling and processing large-scale metal structures. The factory is located in Jiangyin City, Jiangsu Province, on the South Bank of the Golden Waterway in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. It has 500 meters of the Yangtze River's deep water shoreline and suitable water conditions for building ships of less than 30,000 tons. It is 180 kilometers east of Shanghai and 200 kilometers north of Nanjing. At present, the plant covers an area of 222,000 square meters, with a construction area of nearly 50,000 square meters, more than 1,700 employees, 212 engineers and technicians (8 senior, 43 intermediate, 173 junior), and the original value of fixed assets at the end of 1997 was 161.5 million yuan. The quality of ship products has been recognized by CCS, KR, ABS, BV, NK, GL, LR and other international classification societies.
